Something happening that is significant for service delivery.


An event is, for example, exceeding a certain limit value (storage capacity of a database, mileage of a car), or reaching a certain situation (data transfer completed, destination reached). An event can also concern the lack of something. Such an event is usually directly associated with a predefined action, or assigned a meaning for subsequent decisions. Other events only lead to a recorded observation in the log of OPS.
