Workshop: USM Service Agreement

In a half-day workshop, contract managers learn a universal structure for their service agreements, whether with customers, suppliers or internal solution groups. The workshop can be used to teach teams to specify their own services. In this workshop, participants also collaboratively determine a list of improvement initiatives to take them forward, using the USM method as an integrated approach to all improvements.

The USM Service Agreement Workshop is a USM coaching product delivered by a certified USM Coach.

The purpose of the USM Service Agreement Workshop is:

  • to train participants in their ability to specify (their own) services in terms of the USM service system definition
  • preparing a draft improved Service Agreement aligned with the USM specifications
  • preparing a list of improvements to be addressed in a USM implementation

Since the workshop provides an introduction to USM, participants do not need any prior knowledge.

Duration

The USM Awareness workshop lasts half a day for participants, plus some optional preparation time for the USM Coach.

Result

  • the ability to recognize and interpret local services in terms of the USM definition of the service system
  • a draft of an enhanced Service Agreement that is aligned with USM specifications; optionally, the draft has already been prepared by the USM Coach
  • a concrete list of improvement initiatives for a USM deployment project

 

The price of the workshop is determined by the workshop effort and the preparation effort. The workshop effort is technically limited to one half-day session, but may take more time in practice.
Preparation effort includes communication, analyzing the customer's local Service Agreement, (optionally) reformulating this Service Agreement to fit the USM template, and preparing the workshops. This can take up to a day of additional work. On average, the workshop requires 1.5 days of work.
